CUPRA aims to strengthen the conflict resolution capacities of the Congolese community in Australia and to play a role in the journey of reconciliation by helping them to move forward from their past history of war and conflicts and rewrite a new history of peace and unity for a better future.
The primary beneficiaries of this project are community members from different ethnical groups from DR Congo living in Australia, especially young people, as they are the leaders of the future.
CUPRA conceive for the Congolese Australian community to be a platform where people live together in harmony, respect each other's religions and ethnicities, celebrate the Congolese cultural diversity and work together for the development of their homeland DR Congo as well as their second home Australia.
CUPRA's work involves Congolese living in Australia to have open conversations about peace building and reconciliation through workshops or training programs and designed projects.
Assisting community organizations in the Ipswich and surrounding regions to connect with Congolese communities and for their members to maximize opportunities and access services provided by other community organizations.
Organizing and supporting social activities that enhance solidarity and restore trust among the Congolese community members living in Australia.
Creating connections with other organizations with similar initiatives, for purposes of networking and knowledge sharing.
The conflict resolution workshops provide successful strategies to effectively deal with disagreement, confrontation, anxiety and anger before they become uncontrollable.
Social events will bring Congolese and other communities together to strengthen relationships and promote harmony.
Peacemaking circles will provide a way for all Congolese to have conversations and work through conflict or differences in a safe and productive way with a purpose to build and strengthen bonds and restore unity between them.
Connecting Congolese Australians to their local community, to share knowledge, culture and create peace and unity.
